How it works
Four steps for every run, the way the Knowledge is actually examined.
- 1
Learn the run
See the shortest legal route on the map with a ready-made call-over to study.
- 2
Preview it in 3D
Fly the route through a 3D London so the junctions look familiar.
- 3
Drive it
Take the cab yourself and choose the exit at every junction.
- 4
Call it over
Recite it from memory. KnowLDN grades it and shows where it went wrong.

New to the Knowledge?
The exam
To drive a black cab you must know every street within six miles of Charing Cross, about 25,000 of them, plus thousands of landmarks.
Runs
The "Blue Book" sets out 320 routes, or runs, in 20 lists. Learning them builds up a map of London in your head.
Call-overs
You recite a route turn by turn from memory: "Leave by Piccadilly, right Half Moon Street…". Examiners ask for the shortest legal route.
